  1. Waging war now was a stupid idea. Age of conscription in Russia is 18-27, but the group with the least people in it are ages 22-24 - the consequences of insane loss of life in WWII (there is a gap in demographic structure of Russia sen around every 25 years - one generation), one such gap happened in 1990s, when due to hardship of social and economic changes, already lesser generation gave birth to fewer than usual kids, and that smaller generation born from late 1990s to early 2000s is now of the age of conscription. This means, that a war waged now, instead of around 2030-2035 will have much more dare consequences for demographics - it will dig even wider and deeper hole in Russian demographic structure. Even worse - Putin has dealt a blow to Russian demographics twice - now and by waging Second Chechen war - during previous demographic gap.
