  1. This explains nothing. OK, maybe some managers DID think this way in BMW HQ, but from drivers perspective they went from beautiful, perhaps the best looking, cars to damn ugly. Some BMW models still look fine, others look like they now got silly, little mustache, which in case of something coming from Germany is not the best association, and XM just looks it's on it's way to challenge CyberCrap for "the ugliest for no reason" design in a generation or two.
