  1. So, both US and German worker would earn almost twice what I get paid, and I earn above our national average (I get 1500€ per month before taxes, which is around 1100-1140€ after taxes). And I then choose to pay life insurance and to a private pension fund, since I can afford some stuff given our local cost of living and also because I'm not single and do not rent a flat (that would cost additional 250-500€).
