I grew up in USSR, so I got some idea how that "keeping face" (сохранить лицо) and covering their own mistakes (не выносить сор из изьбы) works in authoritarian regimes; so it's not a question, if they are trying to cover up, it's an absolute certainty the are doing that.

  2. Not really, well, on one hand - yes, the virus and it's initial spread was caused by incompetence of Chinese authorities, which does make them worry. But on the other - no, they don't have to worry of it's origins, it's not a bio weapon(if it was, a meager 2% mortality rate... Common!), which every lab able to sequence DNA can see, which basically makes hiding it's origin impossible - everyone with access to infected people can take a test sample of it, and we already know which two viruses contributed to making this one (it's not unique situation, HIV also is a product of gene exchange between two viruses); and those two have origins in China, so the only place CCP can cover up something is China itself, to everyone else it is absolutely clear where the virus came from and that abysmal hygiene of wet markets in China definitely contributed to it.

  4.  Jimmy Lynn  I wonder what you are talking about. If it s about DNA analysis, I've heard it from a man with phd in medicine (not genetics, thaug), who is one of the guys running "Science Based Medicine". No idea what politicians are saying in the subject.

  5.  @wreagfe  If expert says bullshit, he is not an expert, isn't it? Or are you implying, we should trust anyone, who we just like, despite being a completely incompetent in the field. And it's nice you know the word "dichotomy", but that's where your "expertise" in the field ends. And yes, wetmarkets is still the only valid versiopn, nothing has changed, there is no need to chase any new claims, just because it's a novelty. New bullshit shouldn't have more weight than a proper hypothesis. Seriously, now I feel a bit like talking to a flattard (flat earther) or a Creationist.
