I've walked on that roof, while building was still under construction, as I was doing measurements for outer cladding - a ventilated facade of polished stainless steel and metallic grey composite panels, you can see those numerous times during this video. And since I live nearby, that evening we were wondering why so many ambulances are passing our home, so we had some vague idea something has happened even before it got reported on news. And since Latvia is really small, one can meet some person somehow connected to that disaster, like the firefighter, who instructed our company's employees for a couple of years on fire safety, nearly died there that evening, the second collapse happened just behind his back, as he was walking out of the damaged building.
