Putting missiles on Cuba - no a single fuck given (initially) about possible American reaction. Supplying and manning SAMs in Vietnam - same. Angola, Nicaragua, Afghanistan, where did Soviets care about what the White House has to say? But then comes moonlandings and suddenly Soviets are afraid to fuck with Americans! Really?

  3. "He was a Nazi!" So what? In USSR you got to be a Commie to be in any high position, same with any totalitarian regime including Nazi Germany; and von Braun wanted to run a space programm, so it was either participation in the party or it would be some other guy doing it.

  4.  @infamousdnt  Yeah, just like Korolev was a Commie developing weapon as to reach USA and other countries. After all, his R7 was s ballistic missile in the first place, and only as a byproduct came Soviet space programm, which used the same design to launch satellites and people into orbit.

  5. ISS is going through inner van Allen radiation belt on regular basis, since it's a big chunk on orbit and can't just avoid obstacles.
