  1. OMG, these linguistic disputes are very much English only issue. To hell with that! So, of course, Soviets didn't use the same lingo - they spoke Russian! My native language has a word for Christmas, yet it does not "have Christ in it", it literally translates to English as "winter festival". But I agree, that thee is no point in "removing god", first - there is no god, so there is nothing to remove, and, second - those are just words, many of them meaningless, yet some of them useful as placeholders, exclamations and obscenities. I mean, Jesus fucking Christ, it doesn't really matter!
