I guess, because it's well within our hearing range - 5000Hz (the range of headphones, that is adjusted to our needs is usually around 16Hz - 20000Hz) and sometimes a small stream of water sounds like people whispering, so now I'm actually wondering what is the average pitch of a voice, specifically a female one I'd say.
