By sheer coincidence, a couple of days ago I was wondering, why American are so surprised (those who are even aware of the world outside USA), that we - Europeans, care so little about their war for independence, I guess this is the answer - Britain, and Europe as a whole, got more important issues, like French revolution and numerous wars after that. I live quite far away form France, yet those wars reached even my hometown, my granny's sister has a very simple shed, but it is unique in a way - that's one of the very few wooden structures, that survived the burning of suburban area (pretty much whole Western part of the town outside city walls) by retreating Russian army.

  2.  @lycaonpictus9662  I'v3 s3en vid3os of Americans being particularly interested in what is said about Revolutionary War in British schools, and being surprised it's not a major subject on history lessons. It is not about "diminishing importance", it's "a matter of perspective"(C)

After all, it is an interesting question, until you realise it really did went pretty much unnoticed, given all the actually big stuff going on in Europe; besides USA were not that big, developed country it is now, those were only 13 colonies on the East coast, the rest of current US territory belonged to Mexico and France.
