  1. More or less the same everywhere - GULAG system in USSR, Khmer Rouge regime, and numerous others. It is really, really hard to believe someone would do something that insane and evil, so people don't resist, sometimes they try to prove their loyalty to regime and even refuse to believe they got imprisoned intentionally, not by a mistake.

  3.  @clasdauskas  and Soviets collaborated with Nazis for two out of six years of WWII, actually, war would be impossible without that Soviet political and material support to Hitler. And I don't really have point beyond stating the well known facts, which might be new to some. Stating that Bandera "worked with Nazis" is misleading, intentionally misleading. Saying, that his movement wasn't extremely nationalistic and xenophobic also would be wrong. One can be both - killing Nazis, Commies, Poles and Jews at the same time, and Banderasx regime were extremists. Or cooperating with Nazis and having no hate towards Jews, like Japanese empire or kingdom of Bulgaria.
