Sure we were all under USSR (my country was actually incorporated into USSR itself for a while), but Czechoslovakia was a separate country, with a limited autonomy though, as was clearly demonstrated in 1968, so it was an "independent" state, but on a short leash.Still, even then Czechs always went their own way, after all, they didn't even adapt AK, but made an assault rifle of their own design.
