And even that doesn't wholly guarantee it, as I'm pretty sure they try to pressure Google by making doing their business... complicated, lets put it that way. And is Google going to stand by money or by freedom of speech? Of course by the money! This is what the history of their business and collaboration with authorities in China has shown. Besides first and foremost, Google is an business enterprise, they are here for a profity, not a charity meant to make the world a better place, so we can't even blame them for that.

  6. Я на таком ЗиМ/ГАЗ-12 на своей свадьбе катался. Обошлось мне это в мою зарплату за целый месяц, но раз в жизни ведь можно себе такое позволить! P.S. Но то была машина вся в оригинале. Владелец при каждой стоянке поднимал капот - у них всегда были проблемы с перегревом. И очень надо было беречь покрышки, а то советские, но всё ещё рабочие, хрен достанешь.

  8. Я удивляюсь, что эти помещики ещё и не облопошили этих крестян и шаха одновременно. Ну, представтье, ситуация - крестянин, денего мало, но на то, что было, получилось купить землю у шаха, а тут бы к нему обратились большие землевладельцы, мол "а продай нам! Мы тебе дадим больше,Ю чем ты протратил на её покупку". И таким образом помещики и духовенство стали бы владеть ещеё большими площадями. Раз этого не произошло, значит скорее всего были в законах какие-то ограничения на куплю-продажу.

Russian missiles failing isn't new, in 2000s there was a scandal, when around half of air-to-air missiles delivered to India along with some advanced Su-27 variant (Su-30 or Su-33) turned out to be deficifent- their homing devices did not work, turning those missiles into primitive unguided ones.

  11. I can only confirm, that "королевскийтигр" ("royal tiger" or "king's tiger") has been in widespread use in Russian/Soviet parlance, at least it was there during the Cold War era, thus very, very unlikely came from English, so it could be either of Russian or German origin.

  16. I've seen a couple of those during low fly-over demonstration in Latvia a few years ago. No idea if those were British or Italian, as both nations had Typhoons stationed on Baltic air policing at the time. Beautiful birds.

  17. I have a plan for cuts - UK should declare a war on Canada and immediately surrender, disbanding armed forces altogether after that. Thus: 1) UK will still be under the same crown, 2) suffer no losses, 3) NATO will not get involved, as it will not be an attack of 3d party.

  18. My answer - definitely not! I would be terrible soldier, however recently (after Russian invasion of Ukraine) our laws were changed, now everyone can run initial military training course (26 days), basically a bootcamp, and then be put into the army reserve, just in case, while still living regular civilian life. It's much easier option, an entry level so to speak, than joining national guard, which would mean like every second weekend spent in field exercises, or professional army. So I might consider this new option. P.S. Why I'm considering this at all... I want to be useful, to be a real citizen, not just through paying taxrs, to show that my country, my compatriots can rely on me.

  19. "..middle peasant.."? I suspect, Lenin said "average peasant" or "typical," or "common", as "средний" in Russian means both: middle and average. But I'm not 100% sure, as Lenin also invented and used the term "середняк" - a peasant, which is neither very wealthy nor poor.

  20. You give too much credit to Putin, he was not a real spy, he failed to become one, his duties in KGB at various stages of his service were: to be an informer on his own compatriots, to keep his superiors content by organizing their recreation and to be a PITA to Soviet dissidents.

  24. I guess there is one pretty simple and unpleasant reason why sanctions do not force countries (or rather their leaders) to come to sanity, and that is - one can not reason with stubborn idiots. Those leaders got sanctions implemented on them for not being smart and cooperative in the first place; as they are hit by sanctions, they dig their heals and refuse to change their minds. It's like we are dealing with kindergarten bullies asking them to behave, good luck with that!

My only "experience" with Karl Gustav was seeing and touching it a couple of years back, when our armed forces, police, firefighters, borderguard and our American guests (73rd paratroopers) were demonstrating their stuff. IIRC my kid (7yo back then) was able to shoulder it, but of course it felt heavy to him, and the soldier from our armed forces, who uses this weapon, was not a small guy, I mean, most of us here in Northern Europe are relatively tall, but he was also quite bulky, I'd say, most of guys carrying heavier hardware like machineguns and shoulder launched weapons tend to be.

  27. I have that idea of a container-launcher for vertiacally launched missiles, that can be used everywhere, waiting for input of coordinates and launch command like forever. Sort of a partial substitute for artillery, at least the MRLS systems. Preferably using cables for more secure communication with control unit. Container itself would be cheap, thus an acceptable loss to counter-battery fire. Just place it on ground, on a trailer or a ship, doesn't matter, thus it would fit on this kind of ships too. I mean literally a container, not needing a special launcher like HIMARS. I would not be surprised, if something like that is long in development or already exists, as the idea seems quite obvious.

Сегодня узнал про ещё пару довольно характерных болячек, из-за которых может утекать моторное масло у двигателей V6, при этом виноваты совсем не задиры в алюминиевом блоке: - Крышка распредвалов, если в моторе ковырялись и не приладили её как следует. Там даже нет уплотнения, поэтому после ремонта её обычно сажают на герметик; - Сверху между головками, где впуск, есть маслоуловитель вентиляции картера, может быть утечка масла из под него.

  34. I'm not all that sure G36 really has such big issues, it might all be a result of German internal political scuablles. Our forces also use G36, more specifically - G36KV3, and I'm not avare of lost precision issues. Guys go to Afghanistan, use their rifles, then return homw and only then they have to re-zero them again, because of ~4km difference in altitude and thus atmospheric pressure, but nothing above that.
