  6. Speaking about War Games people constantly forget that they are available to general public because CIA, want them to be available or because they were run independently (=without full insight). NATO standard in such cases also assume facing enemy of the NATO standard, as preparing for the worst, make your hopes for the best more valid. Publicly available war games, usually serve purpose of attracting additional military spending. No one would ever reveal what is your actual weak spot. What was kind off true in case of Crimea (even if "local support" was from deep Russia). Invasion of Poland resulted with massive losses to Wehrmacht and was successful only because alliance between Hitler and Stalin. Poles are not colonizers and always were different branch of Slavs then Rus people. With different mentality. Poland did not cooperated with Germany in Czechoslovakia and its claims to Zaolzie was neither a secret or a controversy. While attrition of citizen support make sense in case of expeditionary wars, where many people questioned why US is in Vietnam or Afganistan. That is not applicable to cases of direct attack.
