They were demobilized and scattered on the way. Simply because there was no food to support them. But most of them were absolutely alive after that. Though Napoleon formally lost the army. What needed to be reorganized later. One of first thing you need to learn about Russia is that they are pathological liars. Most of Russian victories were against weakened nations. They always were loosing against prepared enemies.
