Most direct competition for ED is Star Citizen, but even here there would be large differences (SC if focused on team play). "I would argue that EVE is vastly deeper than WOW" And I wouldn't. It simply is. Warcraft has extensive lore, but it still is just a heroic fantasy. Strongest part of EVE is that they were capable to create environment where real geopolitics become a thing. Most notably fact that you really loose the ships.
