  1. The direction my brain had gone with it was the opposite. Because a panoptic surveillance system is, thanks to machine learning and ubiquitous cellular devices, for the first time freed from the constraints of human management, the assumptions of the economic calculation problem will increasingly no longer apply, allowing for the indefinite success of a truly totalitarian system. In other words, we will have not a human managerial class and bureaucracy, capable of errors and leaving various things unregulated, but a bureaucracy of all things all at once, suffocating all individualism and initiative, and this system of omnipresent totalitarian control will not bring itself down in the manner of communism as run by human managers.
