The ethnostate has been made to be this bogeyman to the extent that even the ethnostate of the ethnic group which was subject to the most prominent of various wartime atrocities, into whose details I will not go in order not to run afoul of laws against denial, is seen as somehow akin to the Third Reich, merely for representing a particular ethnic group. Clearly enough, the time has long since passed for the ethnostate to be normalized as a feature of the eastern hemisphere, a legacy of its history of colonization and decolonization by various imperial powers.
