Setting aside everything else about the place, physically separating the entire West Bank population from Israel DID lead to a dramatic reduction in stabbings and bombings.

@garycameron1 If they brought in a Chinese level of surveillance and control for normal people, I don't see why demand couldn't be reduced. Crush all individual freedom within a system modelled on the Mussoliniiist ideal of all within the state, all for the state, none against the state. That'd do the trick.

@garycameron1 Possibly. The analogy is literal Mussolini. The mafia in Italy took the 1920s through 1943 off, because Mussolini dispensed with the formality of a trial. (Tangentially, the mafia restarted in Italy in 1943 because when America occupied Italy, the commanding officers made the decision that anybody detained indefinitely without trial in an Italian prison was most likely a political prisoner, and let all of the mafia back out.)

Regulatory arbitrageurs have a vested interest in the continued regulation of the markets between which they arbitrage. That's the interpartisan dumb-on-drugs element in America, and the Fora Sao Paulo in LATAM, in order to create a stochastic effect whereby left wing governments consistently get support in getting elected, therefore win more often, therefore are able to cause more destabilization. The narco ties to the latter are an open secret.

or they're just on the take

@robstone4537 "keev" sounds like a fetal alcohol syndrome guy with a unibrow who keeps getting removed from the same park for public masturbation by the really patient male officer who actually gets enough sleep sometimes and the really patient female officer who volunteered at a children's after school program

@bighands69 It's an uncharitable interpretation of what he's said in some of his other videos.

My instinct is that the cartels fund lobby groups in America to keep it illegal, in the same manner as they have been caught funneling money to the Latin American left through organizations such as the Foro Sao Paolo as a means of stochastic destabilization. Why wouldn't regulatory arbitrageurs invest in the perpetuation of the regulations they arbitrage?

@malvarezv97 I heard somewhere that in the 1960s, Coca Cola experimented with growing coca leaves in Hawaii in order to extract their flavour, but the coca crop failed due to a local fungus which annihilated it to the last leaf. We've had six decades of progress in fungicides since then.

@seto_kaiba_ I have heard in parts of the Middle East they build backwards greenhouses to keep the temperatures inside cool enough. Some of their techniques are actually very interesting to see applied in other climates. Demolished a garden that had been built by a guy from the Middle East using the techniques from here, and I was actually impressed. He had lined it with styrofoam and plastic wrap, which is what you want when you have dry, hot soil, but this part of the world is a swamp that goes well under freezing regularly during the winter. This was in late April and the snow was gone everywhere else - except in this garden bed, where chunks of it were frozen solid, due to the success the design of garden bed had in trapping water and insulating it from warmth.
