@wavell14 A win would be if it turned out those White Helmets bastards were coming out of that prison camp in Transjordan in body bags.

@snakeplissken5480 99% of the benefit of the doubt I extend to Sunak is because I have an inkling of how stupidly complicated bonds are. When it gets to April 11th, if there haven't been any major diplomatic incidents, that will be the point past which I begin to use more colourful language - "Europe is the noose from which the crow-picked corpse of the West twists in the wind" does sort of roll off the tongue.

That's not a win. You guys basically just fully accepted that your citizenship means nothing.

The thing I retained about that one is that the Holocaust survivors who live in Israel have never received diddly squat for their pain and suffering or in compensation for businesses they had confiscated. The Israeli state has constantly just taken the whole sum. Bit of a shell game, if you ask me. One thing had the German taxpayers agreed to pick up the bill for all the Steins and Witzes who had their shops taken from them and to pay a pain and suffering settlement for having been interned in often subhuman conditions. Another to write a check to a random Middle Eastern ethnostate.

The map at 4:33 looked like buillshit. No way Canada or mainland China are high trust societies.

"Secret leviathan" needs to catch on as an expression for "deep state."

@snakeplissken5480 April 10 is as far as I'm paying attention. The UK Conservative MPs know the European goal is to suck their country to a husk. Therefore, they know the Europeans are bad faith partners in dialog. They know the Europeans can always block any easy removal of the ECHR, due to the leverage they can exert on RI to refuse to sign any replacement of the GFA. They know they need to act unilaterally. They know that the time to do so is by April 10th, therefore symbolically to ruin the GFA 25th anniversary by getting out of the ECHR. If they don't have the balls - or the ovaries - to have that confrontation by that point in time - whether Sunak turns out just to be absent minded about things that aren't bond markets, and his installation was strictly to protect the interests of bondholders, or it turns out he is indeed ill suited to the task at hand and finds himself removed sometime in March - then they're through, and the odds are against their country's survival.
