  1. I work in a 1000 bed hospital and I see all of the infectious disease patients in the hospital as a Rapid Response Nurse. We don’t have the supplies. Mask are having to be reused. Medications in the US are on short supply. Puerto Rico WAS our main manufacturer of IV bags before the hurricane now China sends us 70% of our medications and they are going on short supply. I’m not scared for myself but I am concerned to carry it home to my husband and mother both have advanced pulmonary disease. I’m making a decontamination area in my garage and I go from work directly to shower and then I isolate in my master bedroom.

  2. We have multiple ICU’s one ICU is a 47 bed ICU unit. 11 are 85 and older, 8 are stage 4 cancer patients on ventilators. We need to set limits, no intubation if greater than 85 or in cases of terminal cancer. We have to conserve resources and make difficult decisions. This sounds harsh but once they’re infected, don’t waste resources on people that will not survive. We are in critical shortages on mask, medications and personnel.

  3. Tanya Briggs It’s not the patients it’s the family members reversing DNR status which is allowed in my state and choosing intubation. I think most of these cases are children that are cashing their parents social security checks, because the children avoid the hospital like the plague, leaving their parents on vents. They don’t answer calls, miss palliative meetings. Protect yourself until the vaccination gets here. Sorry about your health problems. My mom, sister and myself all are nurses and all have autoimmune issues. I’m starting to see a trend.
