@monotech20.14 You don't know who the random tweets are from. I see some comments that are informed and brilliant. Who cares who makes them. Who are the "somebodies?" The government? You?

@monotech20.14 That's one of the things I like about YouTube. Being a "nobody" or a "somebody" can be irrelevant. Isn't it the content that matters?

@Dahlen4Dummies I used to believe that. My first inkling that things had shifted was when my son called me a "social justice warrior" and I realized he was teasing me. I used to proudly think of myself as having a leaning to support equal economic opportunities for all people for all people as they relate to urban form. (I was a planner.) The modern "left" is nothing like that.

@frankrosemeck9898 No, it doesn't. I use the word "equity" as aspirational. I worked in government and made a point to treat everyone who walked in the door with the same care. It often created a path to a "fighting chance." In knowing them, they were the ones I felt best about helping, as they had a lot going against them

@frankrosemeck9898 It was. I became frustrated with how hard it is to make these changes. Politics and economics against them are so entrenched. In general, young Turks are young. It takes "fire in the gut." I still think of my career as rewarding. It's funny in human nature that the young think they are being innovative and creative, which is intellectually sexy. There is usually an old man in the back corner who surprises everyone by having tried something similar with mixed results. Planning isn't science, as there are no controls.

@lastfirst3659 Anyone disrespectful would be helped less. That is equity.

@lastfirst3659 I'm not sure that would be possible, or good. Different situations will have different outcomes.

@lastfirst3659 I meant "dealing fairly and equally with all involved" as lifted from Merriam-Webster. You may be thinking of a different definition? Legal?
1
@lastfirst3659 I'm pretty sure a university has heard of the dictionary. Their definition seems flawed, unless there are unlimited resources. When I look at their mission statement, I would be curious to see how they implement it. If it's motherhood to appease some segment, it is one that does not care so much about excellence, or they Also for educational attainment. My son's elementary school let anyone who wanted on the basketball team and lost to other teams all over town. These problems are not solved merely by throwing money at them. How would we calibrate the needs of each student as we should? Like it or not, the greatest predictor of academic achievement is family income. When I think of my family, who came to Canada as immigrants, they worked their asses off and defied the odds. They became strong, had character and ambition. I admire them for becoming that way by overcoming obstacles. It is a different world that we live in today.

@monotech20.14 I doubt that Dore is anti free speech. Editing a show to support its thesis is not the same thing as censorship. If I had a show, I might include some debates, but people should cross-check multiple sources to form conclusions.

@kodykindhart5644 I would love to have something concrete that I wanted as a choice.
