Trudeau's problem here may be that there is a lot of fight back on this from the provinces, who came up with their own plans to meet the goals of the agreement. All but Manitoba have done so. Here in Alberta, a carbon tax recently went into effect. I enjoyed Jane Fonda's comments, but the clips I saw not make clear what she was saying in her protest. Close the oil sands altogether? The reporter may have deliberately avoided airing the parts that might have made this clearer. Our Premier followed her, making a statement to the effect that "She doesn't have her facts straight and she has no business coming up here and telling us what to do." I suddenly realized (from their comments) that many of my friends are climate deniers. Alberta is the closest thing we have to a "Canadian Texas." Yikes.
