Thank you. As an urban planner, I love this. Canadian geographer William Bunge took US cities, mapped life expectancies and compared them to those of countries. I was surprised to learn that the same cities will include that of Switzerland (for example) and that or Botswana. Often only a few miles apart. In the extremes, differences can be far more than 14 years. This work was so lucrative that he was also a cab driver.

I wondered about how our system compares to that in the States and had a candid discussion with a Canadian GP about a year ago. He lamented the change over the past decade...He could get a cancer patient in to see an oncologist the same day and now it can take months. I asked if he thought our shortage of specialists was a result of the higher wages of doctors. He said he thought it more a lifestyle choice. Many Canadian doctors only work three or four days a week.

I am sure that a lot of cancer patients die before they can see an oncologist.

Thumbs up.

What a good idea. I would not be happy if I had intended to vote, voted and then some random small fact had kept my vote from being counted in exactly the same way as every other vote cast.

I love Gunnarolla's "Be a Canadian" video. Thanks for this.

I do this, too. It is interesting how people will open up and become warmer and more likable just to realize that you see them. I try to appreciate anything that anyone does for me.

Thanks for this. I never thought of it that way.

Thank you for this. I have tried to figure out details of what is happening from the six o'clock news without much luck.

Thank you for the movie recommendation. It was lovely. I want to see Istanbul someday. Such a vibrant beautiful city. With cats.

This seems both true and somewhat untrue. In my opinion, many newsworthy stories do not appear on the news, which you mention. This seems like a huge deal to me. I know some excellent reporters.

Same here, except without the "h." With a touch of Asperger's. I wish I had understood this before I was an adult. From here, it looks like your brain works exceptionally well. I suspect that for people my age (62) this was usually not diagnosed in childhood, if ever. I am a person, not a pathology...but my life would have been a lot easier if I had understood what was different about me. It was confusing. One adapts. There are some advantages to being able to hyper-focus.

This is quite funny. I think that El Chapo probably enjoyed your book.

Thank you for this. My grandparents were from the Ukraine, and I have felt embarrassed about my ignorance of the current situation.

Cool footage of ladybugs.

I like this. I had never even held a baby, so I read a lot to get ready. Nothing can let you know what it is really like except the experience.

This is funny. My son and his friends once did this with a Jack White song.

You should meet one of my dogs. He is too crazy to be domesticated and stubborn as a bulldog.

I hope that does happen. Companies like Pfizer do not generally have that kind of open-source attitude, even when they could be saving more lives. It seems fortunate that many have been working on vaccines.

Thank you for this well-written analysis.
1
That would be nice. Do you have any examples of this, Michael Hart?

Let's measure failure in the numbers of sick and dead without medical care, though. Especially when they are forced to pay premiums that just don't cover much.
