  1. I wondered about how our system compares to that in the States and had a candid discussion with a Canadian GP about a year ago. He lamented the change over the past decade...He could get a cancer patient in to see an oncologist the same day and now it can take months. I asked if he thought our shortage of specialists was a result of the higher wages of doctors. He said he thought it more a lifestyle choice. Many Canadian doctors only work three or four days a week.

  5. Let's measure failure in the numbers of sick and dead without medical care, though. Especially when they are forced to pay premiums that just don't cover much.
