I always assumed that they were a not much fun married couple..

Well put together, and amazing. I see more what my sons have been doing with music and computers.

I thought he was good.

Your comment seems correct. People invest thought on the political divide and it keeps them from looking at issues objectively. I like this woman's attitude.

I was a city planner for a large city. The attitude from the top was that we would prefer to have homeless people leave. They were given free bus rides to other cities.

Just a young man hobby. He also plays the violin like Sherlock Homes...in dramatic bursts of music at random times. Entertaining to live with.

Thank you for this. I had never heard of an Alford plea. It makes the criminal justice system look like a farce.

More than a supplement, I considered hos advice to have injections to fool my body into thinking it was pregnant. I briefly considered it. Thanks for this. Sounds like a quack
7
You are not unique.

Welcome to my life. This was definitely underdiagnosed when I was a kid. I didn't understand why I was getting bad grades even though I was reasonably bright and had good intentions. This can be hard for a kid.

It's a never-ending process, as it should be. My favorite parts to it have withstood all kinds of crazy tests and discussions for a long time. This might be the real value of the Constitution. It is politically unlikely that someone would say that people should not have the right to free speech (for example).
6
Excellent reporting. I had not expected that part at the end that provided the greater context and analysis. Imagine if more news went that extra step in educating the viewer about why this would happen.
6
This was beautifully filmed, and not just the drone photography. When I see that it is this guy, I know that I will be interested. I love geography.
6
The first. Good point.

Thank you for this excellent series.

I can see your point. Recently the Chinese business association came out in force when a safe injection site was placed in their midst. It still makes sense because that area has the high concentration of junkies. Here in Edmonton, we have incorporated 24-hour public washrooms that will be safe for the homeless into the Boyle Street community. The City has adopted a ten-year plan to end homelessness.

That would be the smart design solution, jajjfahisdjoigfe. I got to know this guy once because I walked by him several days a week. He was always in the same spot, near a statue of Jesus standing with his arms outstretched. He was harmless and sweet. (I don't mean his smell.) I started to bring him water and sandwiches. One day I saw that someone had brutally beaten him. I never saw him again. I won't forget him. Why would anyone beat up a guy like that? How could a person be that evil?
5
Wow. I have thought that there seem to be a lot more mass shootings. I didn't realise the extent of the increase. I wonder what it is exactly? Good analysis. Thank you.

As a planner, I believed that the city belongs to everyone. After facilitating the siting of some homeless shelters, I learned that it is the neighbours who adamantly don't want them around. It was the politics of the squeaky wheel. We sometimes ended up putting them in industrial districts. This was not ideal for the homeless.

How sciencey. Other than making me sneeze I find cats charming.

I had never heard of such a thing until the Rohynga in Myanmar. This makes me wonder if there are other cases. With the migrant crisis in general, there are many potential subjects. I hope this series will continue.

It is down to such small units of time. I had a DHL driver help me out when he waited about three minutes for me to get my emergency package together, but he had to use a trick on the system. That must make this a stressful job.

Once, my kids brought a stray cat home when we already had a dog. You are right. It depends somewhat on the personalities of the specific animals. There is a trick to making it work. If you keep the cat confined to one part of the house for a week or two, they gradually become used to each other by scent. They somehow negotiated the interspecies communication.

I may be taking liberties to imagine that I am allergic to chemical burns.
3
You are so right, Angela Davis.
3
I loved geography and chose the cultural branch for my undergraduate study. That led me to become an urban planner and have a job that I mostly enjoyed for the next 30 years. Cultural geography has many other applications.
3
The city is like a living organism, YepIts ThatGuy. It is all connected. Some think that government should not engage in this kind of social planning. Given that every action has its consequences (intended or otherwise) not doing it is a kind of random social engineering.
3
My friend who also works in a shelter has told me that when there are enough people, they form their own systems of policing for protection of the weaker Iamtop. After watching some videos on the homeless in Japan, where the mentally ill are taken care of made me think that it would be interesting to study the homeless by country. I suspect that socialized medicine, for example, would make a huge difference.
3
I wonder if they factor in the cost of fatigue driven accidents? I have known transportation engineers who think that there should be a separate highway system for big trucks, as they present a disproportionate risk.
3
I love how they started with no idea how they would do it. Also the way that they deliberately created randomness in the work. It reminds me of David Bowie's random word generator. What a brilliant way to depict the nature of the ocean.
3
I too love both dogs and cats.
2
You are more a scientist and I am more a dramatist, but we are both right. One definition of "allergic" is "having an aversion to." We both agree that if bitten by fire ants, one is screwed. :)
2
I feel that the universe may be telling me to get a job.
2
How does become trapped in the Southern Hemisphere?
2
Poetic interpretation.
2
True as that may be, it keeps us from turning into "Animal Farm", somewhat.
2
There have been some questionable Supreme Court decisions, at times. I agree that judges should not lean.
2
Good example of crime prevention through environmental design. Beautiful. Make the City their City.
2
I think that you are correct, Winston Posegate. France's system is a combination of public and private and some consider it the world's best. In the States, medicine is like the banking system. Basically, taken over by pirates with the cooperation of our corrupt lawmakers.
2
Same, Nudge.
2
Truth, Earla Weese. The situation is obscene.
2
We could learn about cultures by studying their homeless.
2
It does not seem impossible that some of them enjoy inflicting the misery, Ked Kangaroo.
2
Excellent writing. Thank you. This "security theatre" is sometimes intentionally used as an excuse to start wars for economic purposes and warp the intentions and where the money actually goes in rescue efforts. (See "Disaster Capitalism")
2
This writing is crisp and concise. Good job.
2
He might loosen up if he does this enough. He seems like he wants to do well and that is making him nervous.
1
Thank you. Excellent analysis.

I love "Powers of Ten."
1
I don't see how it is different. I had Emily for 14 years.

So I have been told. Shrug. Sigh.
