I have a sense that this was not an isolated incident. I wonder what sequence of events occurred that we know of it? How unusual was that?

Worth the attention, Vera Maier.

@suzimonkey345 Banning the Burka is dictating what a woman shouldn't wear. Is the woman forced to wear the burka, or did she make that choice herself? There was some discussion in France on banning the burkini, which covers a woman's body but not her face. Is that cultural persecution?

This is a fantastic example of the critical work Wikileaks has done.

Under either, it is more how things are run that set the quality of life for the average person, Francis Meyrick.

@todayschef1734 I think of socialism as better than what we have now.

@suzimonkey345 You raise some excellent points. The government should not be involved in these matters. It makes me wonder if there is a relation between the banning of the Burka in France and Bill 21 that was recently passed in Quebec. Is it something about French culture, or is this happening in other places? Since last March, new hires in public positions "of coercive authority" are banned from wearing religious symbols. Also, faces must remain uncovered to receive some public services. I wonder how this will impact the display of Catholic icons that permeate Quebec? It will preclude (for example) many Muslims from obtaining jobs in public service. I wonder if someone wearing the Burka will be given tax exemptions for the public services that they do not receive, or how that will work? There is a rise in fascism in many places throughout the world. I think of people who have lost their rights of citizenship for being Muslims in India or current examples of ethnic cleansing as in Palestine or Mynamar. In the west, we have Donald Trump, who has made statements about Mexicans and people from "shithole countries," which seems code for "countries with dark-skinned people." On a personal level, most of the people I know seem tolerant and compassionate. Anecdotal?

@norskawarrior1919 How do I know the truth of your assessment of Islam? I know a few Muslims who have emigrated to Canada or the States, and they are lovely people. The men do not seem to abuse women. I don't care what people wear if it is their choice. I think you may be a bigot.

@stupididietmoron9996 Dante was hired by the Italian government to develop one Italian language, but languages more typically die a more natural death.

@BeHempy You know nothing about me.
1
@BeHempy You are not a real person.
1
@BeHempy What gives you the idea that I am a "scumbag?" I am pretty sure I am not.
1
@BeHempy Your channel has no content.
1
@BeHempy It is true that I have not always been the right person. I have a conscience and do my best to figure things out and have done it for most periods of my life... It's subjective, though, isn't it?

Right on. I can see reasons to be mad, but think of the future @jamesburkestephenking9333

Well put, Bertram Hagindash. Are we Puritans?

Damn them straight to hell.

@ozking842 What would you say now, Arnold?

@warrenmarsh5626 If you find what I say silly, I am probably sillier. Hideous things can happen under Sharia law. I don't see what that has to do with the Muslims I know and respect, who surely should be judged as the individuals they are.
1
@warrenmarsh5626 I believe that we are both correct. I have had a lifelong commitment to judging people as individuals. I don't mean that it influences my choice to judge them harshly or well.
1
@warrenmarsh5626 Had two beers, have you?

@EmmaGodLovesTruth95 There must also be some legitimate and traumatized refugees among them. Maybe not among these ones.

@chudchadanstud This looks like a clash of cultures.

It sounds as if Julian Assange has lost his ability to update this interview personally due to the position of the Ecuadorian Embassy.

It is an amusing exercise to think of a UN Security Council meeting where the topic would be poverty in America, and we weren't still ruling the world by intimidation.

@andrewhalterman7816 These things are lost for a variety of reasons. I wonder if there is a tendency to want to preserve them more in that situation? It would depend on the specific risks?

It is great to hear such cheerful if vague news. I am certain we will all be watching what happens next carefully.

This was thoughtful, informative and well-written. Also, that superstar is impressive.
