@bryanhendrix1113 A decade ago, I noticed that I had seen the same faces working at my local Costco for a decade. It stood out compared to other stores, even then.

@Rambleon444 Unless you provide some facts, I will suspect that you made that up.

@bryanhendrix1113 That and I like shopping at a store where the cashier can tell me she has medical benefits.

@deansomers4810 Big Walmart has been awful to local governments in taking the incentives they offer to get the tax revenues that the stores will generate. Walmart often jumps ship, leaves the store abandoned and accepts incentives from a new foolish city.

@youtubesucks1499 Wrong. These stores typically draw their markets from the adjacent 5 miles of development, depending on urban form and density. They often move only across the street, as it's the most central to the market.

@youtubesucks1499 I'm a retired urban planner. In my street alone, I can point to several sites where a city provided these benefits and tax breaks, then a few years later, they were abandoned for a Wall Mart, collecting these benefits from an adjacent town and leaving an empty store. They don't give benefits to employees and pay low wages, which is another drain on municipal funds. It's a zero sum game.

@youtubesucks1499 It isn't, exactly. However, the stress of poverty exacerbates such trends.

@youtubesucks1499 The cities and towns are often lured by the promise of sales tax revenues.

@youtubesucks1499 My parents are excellent examples of that. Also, one of them had a psychologically adverse childhood. You would never know these things by how they lived their lives.

@RandomGreenFishPhone I have boycotted them for twenty years, except for twice when they had something I could only find there.
