The British treated their colonial subjects who were not white and their native citizens of the lower social classes with brutality. America is worse in scale because of the global population increase since that time. It's a different scale. Although it is not recognized as colonialism, which would give them at least some incentive to keep people fed and housed to a minimal level when they chose not to kill them. They needed the workers. Globalism has changed that as there are many countries in poverty where people will work for $2 a day. China has succeeded in improving the economic status of her people, while those in the US have become worse off over the last two decades.
