  4. Patrick that is not what I meant. It takes a lot more effort to come up with structural innovation when one's basic needs are a (food, clothing, shelter, etc.) are a struggle. More of a heroic effort.

  5. Could be. I suppose also that a methodical person about to become homeless could develop a plan. I could be making this up, but putting up solar panels makes it look like the resident expects some degree of stability. My reaction might be because the homeless encampments I have seen in N. America contain sectors of the mentally ill and substance addled. This makes stable homeless life more difficult for others. Sometimes there are sophisticated structures for ad hoc "self policing" to protect people and their things.
