2JZ, is considered one of the greatest engines of all time. I know I will get all kinds of flack for this. It still isn't my first choice when it comes to building a Toyota vehicle. 1UZ or 3S series engines are my first choice. I know go ahead and start the discussion. (:

ishootstuff Thank you! Yes, even the first generation engines were awesome starting points. Almost all Toyota engines of this era were amazing places to start. For me, I would daily my 1UZ powered car. Thus stock 250-300 HP is enough for me. Even, in a HEAVY LS400, the 1UZ was more then enough. ;) I will add, I would bore out the block to make it a 4.3(3UZ). That additional torque is great at the lower end. (:

PETE FOSTER I agree. I’d get a later version from 92 and up SC/LS model.

RedsBaller Oh was that the 4 liter version of Toyota’s inline 6 family?

Gotcha. I knew of it but never heard anyone using it to do a project car. Typical, right? We all follow what the crowd does instead of going a new route.

Yes, especially that MR2.

As an American that dreams of those epic cars we never got in the USA; of course! I did see one while I was living in Japan. They are better looking in person.
