One of your best tear downs. I enjoyed how this engine seemed simple compared to some of the OHC engines you've taken apart. I hope you make some good coin selling the parts. (:

That ending with the stock Corvette was epic. Nothing like the sound of an LS. ๐๐๐

ย @Sigfried033ย :face-blue-smiling: Usually of course. Nothing like a little sarcasm. LOL:face-blue-smiling:

Impressed by how well this engine stayed together. This is a testament to Toyota quality. Great tear down and I hope to find some more Yota ones.

I think this shows how well made Nissan engines are. I'm also surprised by your findings. If oil wasn't changed regularly then it could have been worse. I learned my lesson with oil intervals on my old Toyota. I decided to go 5,000 miles between oil changes. Only took doing that twice and I saw the results. I never will do such things again. Good content and I'll be on the look out for your next video.

I know GM makes good engines.ย Here's another example of that. I like seeing your positive attitude towards American engineering. Hopefully that 540i gets some videos made about it as well. HINT hint! ;-)
7
Amen. I appreciate you all. ๐

Eric, this is my favorite tear down. I love rotary engines and their uniqueness. I am glad you took this apart in your loving fashion. ๐
6
Really? How much oil does it take to quiet the engine down?
6
ย @OCtheGย 100,000 should be easy! Good luck ๐๐.
5
Where's the dip stick?
5
ย @davidedgar2818ย I like your idea. Definitely something I will copy. Much appreciated input. Much appreciated.
4
Agreed! ๐
4
Amen! I find these teardown videos very entertaining.
4
I've seen enough water damage in my day. It's never fun and people do think they'll make. Only to find out they didn't, bummer! Toyota makes good trucks still and the 4Runner would have lasted a long time otherwise.
4
Good call and I hope the engine lasts a long time.
4
What makes your videos fun is that you are doing the work. I've seen a ton of C4 videos and the person only explains the process. You're doing the work and talking us thru the process. It looks complex till an expert. Shows us it can be done. I'm grateful for your channel and knowledge. (:
4
What an amazing teardown. From the design of this V10 I will say I like what Audi did. Other than this example these are more than likely very robust engines. I wonder what you'll get in next?
4
Eric, I know you enjoyed this teardown. Thereโs nothing like finding two cylinders completely destroyed. Iโve never seen this happen in your tear downs. Iโll go outside and check my oil levels and when it was last changed. Iโm sure youโll approve of my actions.
3
Good luck. If you have a YouTube channel then share how your progress is going.
3
Good video sir. I am surprised by some of your findings. Hopefully Dodge engineers learn from others findings.
3
LOL, I bet they would have been gunk'd up!
3
ย @davidedgar2818ย Good lesson and thank you for sharing this information. ๐ฎ

Memories that's all I have to say. ๐ I've taken so many B-Series apart. Watching this video took me down a road I haven't traveled in a while. ๐ I hope you get more Honda engines from this era to break down. Especially a C30 or C32 DOHC version. ๐ ๐ฎ
3
There's something about watching someone else tear an engine apart. The sounds and cracking of bolts is always a joy to me. (:
3
ย @dans_Learning_Curveย lol ๐๐๐
3
Out of all the OHC engines I've seen you take apart. This one looked to be more complex. I liked your PSA about these S series of engines. They are great engines and I agree with you. If you are about to purchase one make sure you get good service records before dropping cash.
3
ย @greebjย e34 540 wow! Always loved that body. V8 in it is ๐ถ um!
3
LOL, me too. I like that about these videos.
3
One of your best engine breakdowns. I hope to see some GM LS engines as well.
3
What ๐ฎ? Even a Toyota, LOL. ๐
3
ย @CheezeCrackerย lol๐๐ ๐
3
Lol, I thought ๐ญ it was funny ๐ too. ๐๐
3
Eric, don't get sued by BMW.
3
They are that good. (:
3
Yes this is one of my favorite things about this channel. What carnage am I finding. ๐
2
ย @raykaufman7156ย Thatโs correct. Would you kindly share a link to the completely grenade engine tear downs?ย Thank you very much.
2
ย @raykaufman7156ย I'll check that video out. Thank you for sharing the video. You are appreciated.
2
Agreed. His content is so good I wish he was at that level already. (:

๐๐ฎ๐ To the comments so far.

Watching you take a couple of bolts off when working on the engine stand. Always makes me cringe. ๐ฌ I'd hate to see something happen to you. I figure in the end you know what you're doing. ๐ I wanted to also say that this Boxer engine is way over engineered. I'm not surprised since Porsche engines are known for reliability. ๐ Umm some of them are. ๐
2
I had GM engine with the milk shake. ๐ข Always remember that engine too. ๐ข
2
I've always enjoyed your PSA at the end of these videos. It's good to learn what the usual failures of an engine are. They seem to be common issues to. Thank you for shattering this block. ๐๐๐ Congratulations ๐พ๐๐๐ on being a father ๐จ.
2
Agreed! His videos have improved and we are better in this relationship for this. (:
2
Congratulations ๐ ๐๐! I mean it. Hearing that your S54 blow wouldnโt have been fun. Iโm excited to see more about your journey with this car.
2
This was quick. But I guess it was one of your earlier videos. Did you ever break down those LT engines from a c7 Corvette?
2
That's a strange sound from the engine bay, story of my life. We all are on budget sir.
2
Yes the press may have worked. But the BFH was very entertaining. ๐๐๐
2
I must admit I was surprised by the extent of the damage. But that makes sense considering it's a blown engine. My question to you is. Does YouTube help you advertise your parts business?
2
Eric, thank you for mentioning that Knock Sensors if replaced are bad. I figured that's what happened when we replaced mine. LOL Also I used to think GM made crap. Till I got an LS1 with almost 180K on it and it still runs fine. They are a great platform and will go the distance when properly cared for. ๐ ๐๐
2
ย @sp33d4l0lย Glad you did the research. Everything in theory is great ๐. Till it's done in the real world and we see the results.
2
ย @mann_idonotreadrepliesย If anyone wants a DIY project. They best stay away from German.
