@Grace-de1sw George Floyd had a lethal dose of fentanyl, and after listening to the trial, I couldn’t see beyond reasonable doubt that Chauvin’s knee was what killed Floyd. If it was a combination of both the drugs and the chokehold, then he’s guilty. But it’s possible that it was purely the drugs. He’s on trial because he no doubt used excessive force, so we can agree on that. But they didn’t really prove that Chauvin intentionally wanted to kill Floyd either. So that would knock it down to manslaughter.
Also, there was jury misconduct since one of the jurors said on a document that they did not participate in BLM protests, but then images came out of doing so anyways, so there could be a mistrial on appeal.
That’s how I saw it. To me, the entire city is broken, which as a result breaks everything in the city including the police department. They need to get businesses going in those places and get people out of poverty, then I believe we will see less horrible and tragic events like with George Floyd. But Chauvin’s trial, IMO, had too much reasonable doubt to convict him. Also, the typical sentence for a crime like this would be 12.5 years, not 22.5 years for Minnesota.
