He gets lighter sentences, comes off as nice and charming, and smiles after attempting to empathize w/ his victim, and y’all still say he is a sociopath and not a born psychopath. He wasn’t even trying to manipulate, and you guys still got manipulated!

@noahdwhitney That is true in a clinical setting; I just view it as having no empathy and remorse, which is about as broad as it gets. Colloquially it’s still used

@Saywhaaaaaaa That is not at all true. That’s called apathy, like what you see in schizoid personality disorder (to an extent). Psychopaths are emotionally detached from OTHERS. Their pattern of thinking is always egocentric. Things are processed in a more pragmatic, stone cold way. But they still have emotions. They can be happy, sad, angry, disappointed, etc. They tend to be highly understimulated, but I have no idea why that is. I can guess maybe it’s because they can’t process affection given by loved ones to them as much (a euphoric, stimulating experience), plus lack of anxiety and high stress tolerance. Whatever the reason is, that’s what causes the chronic boredom.

It’s possible that you do care that you don’t feel at the same time. As someone with autism, any sort of discomfort can make me very irritable, and I will be very egocentric/demanding while involuntarily catastrophizing the pain I experience. You probably have trauma, and your autism and other experiences probably tipped the iceberg into you hurting other people, but it doesn’t look all that voluntary for you tbh, which is unlike this guy being interviewed, who did it because he was addicted to it. I wish for you best of health, you should hopefully be able to empathize with others properly if you get better

@kelzzzs223 Yeah. He probably wanted to and still couldn’t do it. I wouldn’t blame him either, life gets boring like this.

@colorado841 Honestly I think this is just how he naturally talks. He is trying to show he’s rehabilitated from ASPD, not psychopathy because that is lifelong and he’s stuck with it. The only way for him to prove himself is prove he’s honest and not doing more shenanigans, that’s about it.

@dennisraeimakers5218 I think most people with this trait don’t actually have many problems with it. If it cooccurs with another mental issue, then it can become a problem

@lucijasalinovic8702 From what I heard, it just acts as a stimulant similar to speed, no empathy. Additionally, psychedelics are less invigorating, and caffeine causes less irritability than usual as well, etc.
