  10. Cailin I’m sure they will eventually. Look at the direction they are heading, they are sending warships through the Taiwan strait, basically treating it as international waters. And it doesn’t matter if the US recognizes a country or not, you can put an embassy anywhere as long as that region accepts it.

  11. Cailin The kuomintang lost the civil war, yes. But the new China never conquered the island of Taiwan, so the kuomintang fled to the island and became its own country. The PRC never owned Taiwan. So Taiwan is an independent country. Hawaii literally agreed to become a state, so it’s quite obvious it’s not an independent country. Not so with Taiwan.

  12. Cailin Also, I don’t know what kind of talks the US is going through in regards to Taiwan, so maybe they will recognize them, maybe not, I’m not sure. But they are treating its surrounding territory as international so that’s a sign.
