I remember when my biggest concern was my intellectual project, my 25 year career as a clinical research psychologist. Once I discovered the Orthodox Christian ascetic and sacramental path to Theosis, I dropped all of it, submitted myself to Christ (a Person) and basically am a monk at home. It’s very difficult to crucify ones intellect. Fr Seraphim Rose helps in his critique of the Enlightenment and Perennialism in his “Orthodox Survival Course.” I was so in love with my intellect. It’s much simpler and harder to purify the nous and be granted a vision of The Uncreated Light. No amount of intellectual activity, no matter how useful and even beautiful it is won’t bring one into Communion with our Creator. 🙏🏻☦️🙏🏻

I’ve done a lot of psychedelics in my day...none since 1986...but I’ve had more intense spiritual experiences during prayer and just in life as a result of pursuing Christ through Orthodox Christian ascetic practices than I ever did by ingesting exogenous molecules. Saints speak about cleansing the nous and receiving Grace from the Holy Spirit, which grants theoria and knowledge of divine truths sometimes. Endogenous molecules no doubt are involved in intense experiences of insight. I don’t think it’s necessarily a good thing to attribute too much to hallucinogenic substances or to encourage people to use them. We can attain much through prayer. 🙏🏻☦️🙏🏻

Christ is that light! You are that light and love! Repentance is beautiful…if Jordan isn’t an Orthodox Christian I don’t know who is…

I opened the door to Christ while I was in a “beautiful” Hindu meditation group after I discovered the corruption and evil behind the counterfeit beauty. I immediately took back my request for “a Savior” ALL ALONE in a room…but He came in anyway on January 5, 1995. I wander between churches until I discovered the ancient Faith, The Eastern Orthodox Church in 2014. At age 66 now I will never leave it. The Orthodox Church is a HOSPITAL! Christ heals by our partaking of His REAL Body and Blood in the Eucharist… the ascetic struggle against our passions and the Unseen Warfare against the Enemy of Goodness is the way! The EO church has all the answers to how to become more like Christ. Theosis is Gods plan for humankind, we become more and more LIKE him..🙏🏻☦️🙏🏻

“The meaning of a system is what it does”…is that the phrase?

Please read Robin Amis’s “A Different Christianity.” An Orthodox bridge…

Good riddance. Now I beg you to take this as being from GOD, crucify your intellect and enter “Orthodox Psychotherapy” (a great book by Metropolitan Hierotheos Vlachos). Become an Orthodox Christian! What you give up in submitting yourself to Christ in His One Church will be restored to you immensely in this life and immeasurably in the next! He has given me the desires of my heart AFTER I gave up EVERYTHING for Him. The last thing I gave up was my clinical psychology license here in California. The path of Hesychastic prayer, repentance and receiving the Sacraments of Christ’s REAL Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist will heal you completely and fulfill you totally. You may even be given revelation by God in pure prayer and stillness. My search for Truth took me through the New Age movement in the 80s, a Hindu meditation cult, a 25 year long clinical psychology career, Protestantism (for a decade) and finally 8 years of traditional Roman Catholicism. Orthodox since 2014 and it’s answered every question and is healing every sinful passion… May God bless and lead you to just give everything up to Him! You won’t regret it I promise! 🙏🏻☦️🙏🏻

@michaeldarling33669 also if you can visit any of the Greek Orthodox monasteries started by Elder Ephraim in the US and Canada you can seek counsel for spiritual healing! We view the Church as a hospital! I am the sickest patient…🙏🏻☦️🙏🏻

The young are sitting ducks to be turned into useful idiots by idealogues who know that they are manipulating the poor dumb, passionate youth

I had to give up red wine cos it made me more mean as I age (66). I don’t have as much of negative effects from champagne and even hard liquor but I must limit myself to two max on any one occasion. Should probably stop totally. It’s once per week usually…

And good job!

His intellect has been more captured by rationalism and desire for his writing projects… he’s really good at thinking and writing… he’d have to give it all up to God and see what happened….

Heaven will help us! If we can only get back to God! Eastern Orthodox Christianity has a complete system of anthropology and an understanding of a loving God. We are all born with a marred likeness of God, a proclivity to go astray (sin) by following our own “passions.” The therapy is working on ones own tendencies and struggling physically spiritually and psychologically (ascesis) by reigning in our OWN passions (not those of others) and following Gods rules! They are for our benefit!
