1960s - 1970s: Hundreds of thousands of middle-class European CIVILIANS, then settled in Sub-Saharan Africa, have lost absolutely everything they had got through generations & generations of very hard work, when brutal DECOLONIZATION of some African territories took place! Those European CIVILIANS have lost their homes (and sadly, everything in them), their cars, their bank accounts money, their jobs, their commercial & industrial family businesses, their lands, their personal references & identity, their physical & mental health, and, last but certainly not least - and in so many cases! - even their own lives!... And yet, surprisingly or maybe not, in these times of WOKE madness, NO ONE is talking about this open wound, and REPARATIONS or compensations due to the EUROPEAN VICTIMS of the DECOLONIZATION OF AFRICA, whose assets were looted to the core by the African mobs - guided by their new marxist rulers - still is NO ISSUE for those who now are demanding "a fair treatment" for facts that happened so many centuries ago! DOUBLE STANDARDS, I guess!...

@christinepeach8213 The chaotic collapse of some European Empires in Africa occurred at the expense of European civilian lives and interests, actually. And the African kleptocratic regimes that followed confiscated them - "by law" - virtually everything under the Sun, sometimes with the "precious technical assistance" of European lawmakers...

@mgkos So, your own family story is another good example of what true refugees need to go through, until they get a safe place to settle in! For today's Western Societies, though, these "old" examples of endurance and loss are worth nothing, and, as time goes by, the WOKE/ leftists in Power, who control the Public Education, will end up erasing them from our History books... Sad, but true!...
