How does that excuse all the blandness that's been built in suburbia? After W.W. II, suburbia was extremely prosperous, so why all the cheap/tacky architecture? The two generations before the boomers really could be very cold, robotic, and severe. I can just imagine their rationalizing cliché (accompanied by a shoulder shrug): "Well, that's progress." 🙄
