  1. Compare Berlin (or Dresden, Cologne, Budapest, etc.) in 1945 to Detroit in 1945. Now compare to Berlin (or Dresden, Cologne, etc.) in 2024 to Detroit in 2024.

  2.  @reader1236  "Europe is smaller" Wrong. The U.S. is 96.6% the size of Europe. After W.W. II, in the massive U.S.S.R., did they go somewhere else? No. Did the Soviets rebuild Stalingrad/Volgograd? Yes. In the U.S., for law-abiding citizens, "it's easier just to go somewhere else" when crime becomes unbearable.
