  6.  @markfischer3626  I'm surprised that a man with your obvious pedigree and intelligence gets to believe the way you do. I'm seemingly completely au contraire to your way of thinking . For personal reasons, I'll not disclose where I'm from, suffice it to say, I'm most probably of a similar age to yourself. I was conscripted to the military in my late teens and saw action against Soviet backed militias, Cubans and many Russians themselves. During and after these conflicts I got to know a few of the latter and to this day, I'm still in convivial communication with them. Many of my compatriots are not quite as partial to the old Soviets, yet have an understanding of the USSR ideologies and their intricate influences on Russians. I have travelled to Russia on a number of occasions and I have gained an intimate knowledge of Russia, it's citizens and their way of thinking. I can, without reservation, honestly say that the majority of westerners have absolutely zero knowledge or understanding whatsoever of anything related to Russia. The propagandistic indoctrination of the western mind-set is completely misguided and palpably false. It's difficult for westerners to relate to the Russian psyche as their culture has been ingrained for many centuries. The German invasion of Russia galvanized Russians in a way that is difficult for an outsider to comprehend. Modern Russia, again contrary to western thinking, is an incredible success story thanks to Putin's leadership. This man is truly loved by 80-90% of Russians and is quite the opposite of the dictatorial persona depicted in western media and by politicians who make it glaringly obvious that they want this success story to be fail. It saddens me to see the hate conjured up by the western neocons in their citizenry. This is the reason for my rather undiplomatic commentary in reply to the thinking of others who I know will have a mindset adjustment one the truth is known. Having a fair understanding of military matters and having seen Russia's approach to its defensive mindset, and it's military capabilities, it's hard to fathom why westerners have been so easily lulled into a this false sense of security. Please do not view my often caustic responses as a personal attack but rather as a passionate plea for a semblance of sanity to the western way of thinking.
