In Oregon, the postal service is FUBAR. Example: mail a letter in any town, Eugene for example, the mail from the Eugene and Springfield area used to go to a processing or sorting distribution center in Springfield and then it would go back out to the routes to be delivered, literally 2 day mail service, 3 max. Now mail from every town in the state is trucked or flown to Portland, sorted and trucked back to be delivered. How the F is it cost effective to take mail from any town, truck it clear across the state, just to send it right back to the originating town. Many people didn't know this was the new process and during the election there were advisories all over the news, in the papers, in the voter materials because your mail in ballot MUST be received within one week of election day to be counted. They advised if you were within 7 days prior to election day, to just drop off your ballot at the ballot drop off boxes because it is unlikely to count.
