i gotta say... of the scenarios that might happen... the thing that is scariest is not looters to me. it is the over zealous people who think they are righteous and going to clear their own neighborhood of people they think are undesirable. the LARPers. the people itching to get back at a society they think bullied them. i am more concerned with the people that have worked themselves up into a frenzied of fear right now, then the potential crimes of desperation in the future.

it is funny that the national guard, by design,... is doing EXACTLY what the private militias allege they want to do. it is almost like the private militias are 1) jealous 2) lying about what they really want to do. how many of the private militias follow the Russian funded media fiasco that is going on right now ....

with all the bad stuff the Right says... there is no reason to make stuff up... but people will people unfortunately , its a shame. BUT... the Right also doesn't care about being hypocritical, their lies are just lies, they don't have to be consistent lies. that's the pinnacle of propaganda, just enough kernel of truth to get people to make the hop and skip over the lie and accept it. ( and for the nay sayers, yeah liberals fall for all the same too from their side, the hops and skips seem to simply be far less and far less consequential, IMO. )

immediate fact checking would be great. even getting BEFORE you post. a little pop up that says, "are you aware of xyz? this will be posted alongside your post for clarity" and you have to accept it to post it . it would only educate a fraction of the people seeing it to be realistic though. but a consensus on facts and narrative would be fantastic. but people would have to understand nuance , semantics, colloquial vs expert definitions, logical fallacies, skepticism ( without getting into conspiracy-fantasy) , people need to know that faith / belief/opinion are not facts, people need to be curious, to want to know the truth, to not just want to be right as a point of pride, to be weary about taking beliefs as identities ... and more there is an entire paradigm shift people would need to make to REALLHY care about facts truths and the narratives & logic that holds it all together.

@spacetoast7783 i do not see that as circular.. i see that as informing misinformed people. ..... fake news, are lies and propaganda... being educated makes it easier to see through lies and propaganda. being convinced of a lie can still be done by an educated person if their education is in archery instead of political science. just like the fact that we need people to learn how to learn... its not circular.
