a limited selection ... aka, that thing that "socialist/communist" countries get accused of and mocked for. American Capitalists are so ridiculous in demanding 329 version of the same thing.

"- [Narrator] The other concern for both countries is that the Chinese government could use Tiktok's algorithm to promote misinformation or propaganda. - Mr. Shou, yes or no, has, to your knowledge, has the CCP coordinated or utilized TikTok to influence users through algorithms, state paid content creation, or in any other capacity?" um... again... exactly what EVERY social media platform does.... how is this journalism... this is just milk toast complicit media simping for corporate agendas. MARVEL and PIXAR capitulates to the chinese in ALL their moies that are released in chine. they edit entire scenes and plot lines to ge tht he moves release. the transformers series had the protagonists changed to china when the studio was changed to chinese funding! the koch brothers and other republican powerhouses CONSTANTLY fuel misinformation on these platforms , and worse... LOBBY CONGRESS. this is exactly why i am not subed to WSJ. it is garbage media.

"TikTok users before the ban in India did it without much political consciousness or geopolitical understanding of the larger issues behind TikTok. Probably many of them are not even aware that their information is out there." um... this is the case with EVERY global ( and frankly all) business. do we ban Nestle & Coca cola because of human right violations? does the general population know or care? facebook for actively harvesting data and handling it insecurely. youtube for mental health abuse of its content monitors amazon for employee abuse i wish we had an ACTUAL backbone against corporations and not this performative, and frankly a political move, from and for other corporations. this is mostly a power grab and monopolization, and legal anit-trust move by corporations. people should be joining together to simply sway the algorithms. to demand transparent algorithms, to create and share content of VALUE, to BOYCOTT with conviction.
