thank you for deciding to take the step over that bridge. we absolutely need to have these discussions. TLDR; Nintendo Echo VR Iron Lung Repo! The Genetic Opera, is a fun movie about the topic of corporations, medical technology, repossession when you can't afford those new mechanical eyes..... this is the fight that emulators have ben fighting for years now. similar to why piracy of media trickled down when streaming became a thing. and why pirating is rising again. people WANT to use the services and tech. Echo VR is a great example of something that a dedicated passionate group of people are willing to adopt the game. Meta REFUSES to let the people have the code even though Meta is eliminating the game and servers. Nintendo is another company famously strong against digital backups and private serves, libraries, & emulators. archiving and piracy might look the same to many people but they are not. the rights being asked for are not to completely destroy IP or to legally make bootlegs in direct competition. the rights are to preserve what we have and to minimize waste. the fight against these simple pleasure's are the foundation to the larger world of pigeon holding other lifestyle and life saving technologies and serves. look up the last living patient in an iron lung. that's a similar story to this too. there is just a random, mechanic that was hired to wing the repairs to this last machine. there is not information ;left for the device .

capitalism, where corporations have the rights to ownership but the customer does not. thank you for reporting on customer leverage , customer awareness, creator protection.
2
time to document and sue the game companies that are selling games that LITERALLY can not be plaid because they require internet access to servers that no longer exist.
2
i think Netflix can be sued for their change to their AD tier. they failed to explain the limits of the AD tier.

soooo many businesses have not earned to stay open. so many businesses think they have, and essentially DO HAVE, more rights to exist than people do. it is nauseating what business ends up being allowed to do against consumer.

all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing

bUt cApItAlIsM SeLf rEgUlAtEs .... HA! google being google is just more evidence that business will not self regulate but will in fact abuse any and all power they can grab.

there is a laundry list of features that are needed to make it worth paying for but off the top of my head: Youtube: no ads like you said actually downloadable videos none of that "are you there" popups custom channel playlists better playlist sharing and collaboration better comment sections with tagging and show/hide features a block list for selected creators display the dislikes again longer clip options make the platform usable for IRL collaboration and not just consumption a way for users to categorize the trashy content from the educational / facts from fiction auto-citation along with the auto-transcription and cc (and tools for creators to cite better) accessibility features built in (so we don't have a reddit situation. third party is great but these mega corps have no real excuse as to why they have limited built in ADA specifications) as others have mentioned on this thread, better treatment of the content creators Google: transparency, ability to stop all tracking, a better corporate environment, accountability standards for social good.

i found out that my parents HP printer has an ink subscription... itf the subscription is cancels... the ink cartridge that is CURRENTLY IN THE PRINTER will stop working.... the printer also needs an app to scan. and the printer is LOCKED from printing edge to edge.. it has a built in margin that CAN NOT be turned off without paying a fee for premium app access....

businesses have more rights in America than people.

we need to bring back the spirit of the law in many cases. "WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in Order to form A MORE PERFECT UNION, establish JUSTICE, insure domestic TRANQUILITY, provide for the COMMON defence, promote the general WELFARE, and secure the Blessings of LIBERTY to ourselves and our POSTERITY, "

"you have to make him jealous it is the only thing that works" ... that applies to Netflix as well... 🤣

spitballing... do we need the USPS to run ALL addresses? physical and digital? that is to say, the USPS has a legal OBLIGATION to get mail to a person.

good advise... for some things. i am not sure this applies to all activism though.... this works when their is a large entity that is actually ALL of our enemies... but im not sure how this would apply to people that side WITH the larger entity already... when fighting the badguy... the corps that are trying to monopolize and take away rights... we certainly don't use this tactic , right? in the congressional hearing you point at the badguy, because the congress is the group that is "supposed" to be on the side of the people. but when fighting the corp itself... we boycott, she send emails, we shame them, attempt to defund their profits and debunk their reputation. but again, over all definitely a lesson people need to learn as a tactic, another tool in their belt.

can we send these kind of messages TO THE COMPANIES.. 😆

that's the hypocrisy of politicians fighting for these laws, it's not that they are against the federal government, they just want the power for themselves to rule over why they see as under them.

i have been waiting for a mass cancel date. i would love to see a " on 06/15/2025 we will show netflix we will not stay for this consumer abuse" ^this way ^ we have a little more umph in our voice. i have been wanting to get rid of my netflix. the lowest tier SUUUCKS. not only ads but also: some content is locked and the ads crash my TV, literally fills up my TV's cache and crashes.

i have "heard" that YT is getting harder on blocking content if you have an ad-block... there was a "report" of a content creators playlist that blocked the first 2 videos in the playlist because of "ad-block" but could play the other videos in the playlist... very stage. i don't know why YT is detecting and blocking some video and not others.

transparency... it is the only thing we can really ask for... but even that they don't want to give us.

dont forget that there are different therapy styles. not all of them work for resolving a given issue. Kati Morton jsut put out a video on the topic. 5 Reasons Therapy is NOT Working For You

when a company no longer supports something, we need to to go open. if a company "supports" something but it was 20$ last year and is now 1500$ , we need it opened. we are cyborgs now. corps can no control out exo-parts, our implants, the devices we must interact with to do the most important tasks like call 911 pay our taxes. i understand the convenience mark up... but what is happening is not this anymore, it is extortion. we are slipping into Repo! The Genetic Opera territory.

like the people that TO THIS DAY are paying for AOL without knowing it.

open source software for you TV? is that a thing?
1
@WaningLoon 👍 guess we have to start swapping out the software then.

we need the full Louis boycott list. 😅

isn't that the risk the business owner (content creator) takes when they use ads? the fact they signed a contract for PER AD played. if they wanted guaranteed payment they need sponsorship. I have always been confused as to businesses getting angry at customers for not fulfilling the desires of the business. a consumer has no obligation to fulfill the risk assessment of a business. running a business IS a risk of unguaranteed profits. Linus and people against Ad Block are ACTUALLY angry about the level of TRACKING that ad companies have. if the ad company had less tracking they would not be able to pay PER ad. they would have to give contact creators more fair contracts.
1
when are we getting the Rossman Hardware Company? welling us tech that is not IoT, repairable, open source modifiable ? 😅 please and thank you

and of course some of the profits would be used for archiving everything we can .
