@OutragedPufferfish all i know is that i had a fantastic school experience. i do not understand when kids teachers and the rest complain about school. maybe i was just in that 10 year gap of good schooling. i also think i was just a student that did school correctly. there is a a level of personal responsibility on students to do the working of getting educated. "lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink".... as a student, i seem to have chosen to drink. and of course broad strokes are not the answer, but i am confused as to how many students do not care to learn, like they are not curious to learn. where has students curiosity gone?

@OutragedPufferfish ah.. yeah it is tough to get comments on youtube. i have even sorted chronologically and can not find the comment. sometimes comments look deleted but they are just hidden because of the "top comments" sort ... i do not see them at all, so they didn't post it seems.

pre-watch thoughts: "hobbies" require spaces to do them, time, money, resources. 1) we have a generation being told to commodify everything... so a "hobby" just becomes a side hustle 2) traditionally a "hobby" was for the leisure class. just like a grass lawn was to demonstrate wealth, land not used for crops, a "hobby" was labor done with no need to get paid for it. we are entering neo-feudalism... there are no hobbies anymore. 3) "reading" / education used to be a hobby, sports used to be a hobby, tinkering used to be a hobby .... but those have been so corporatized that people are priced out of doing them. 4) we have been stripped of all our time and energy. and been conditioned to doom scroll marketing. thee boomers can't complain about us being on our phones when THEY DESIGNED those phones and created the corporate marketing structure. four complaints is enough for now.

@truther001 what are you talking about... my school was fantastic and it is in "cities or states like California." ... what do you call a "great schools " ? the 10 commandments in the class room, (Texas is among at least 14 states where legislators aim to reintroduce Christian principles in public schools.) corporal punishment (including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming.) these 2 items immediately make these school systems un-constitutional. against the 1st and 4th amendments.

" you're forbidden from disciplining unruly students," the question is ... what do you means by 'disciplining' & 'unruly' ..... the fact that you use terms like 'your superiors ' .... makes you sound like an authoritarian @sshole... you or any teacher is not 'superior' to students and children... "enforce the rules and punish cheating " teachers are not enforces... or punishers.... that is the exact problem... you think you are Judge Dredd or something {judge jury and executioner} f'k-off with your power trip. --- just like with policing... what schools need is a wholistic approach. we need support systems for kids, not punishment.

@red-hn5iy testing and 10 page papers are perfectly fine... if the students understand why they are doing them. do people not understand that STUDENTS need to do the work of learning? there is no way to teach people who do not want to learn. a person needs self motivation to extract the value out of a lesson. i think large issues in the school systems are: - authoritarian bullies (and racist bigots) that become teachers - an admin staff that does not support students or staff - authoritarian bullies (and racist bigots) that become admin staff - admin running schools like businesses - admins using schools to push white-christian-nationalism - students not getting the social support at home , in society, in school, online, that they need. - defunding of schools by regressive administrations ( by policy and embezzlement ) SOOO many issues. education is not valued in America because it is a threat to the status quo.

@train260-q2m correct, we need to get the grooming of white-christian-nationalism out of our public schools. we know our school systems progress toward critical thinking is important because white-christian-nationalism is tryign to fight it. education is not valued in under white-christian-nationalism because it is a threat to their status quo. we need to get the grooming white-christian-nationalists out of public schools, and get back to teaching kids critical thinking. get the bible out of schools, the ten commandments, prayer, creationism, white-christian-nationalism, MAGAt-fascism; all these things do not belong in schools.

Re: school finding and teachers. doing individual learning paths for the entirety of the school system ( Enrollment 2020 Total 49.4 million ) National education budget (2023-24) Budget $222.1 billion would be insanity... i am not against it... but you are talking about an insane burden on teachers. essentially we would need specialized craftsman, to also be well rounded educators on all topics that need to be incorporated into the specific craft. then there is the very real possibility of bad teachers still existing, which drive people JUST the direct craft skills. similar to how PragerU is buying school systems into white0christian nationalism ... under this system corporations will have even more power to infiltrate the education system. corporations will not adapt the "company town" model into a "company education" model. the pitfalls can be devastating.

17:20 if you are saying what i hope you are saying here... YES.... we should fast track kids into more difficult topics quicker. look at Star Trek, middle school aged kids learning college level maths. that is what we need. as for reading choice... um.. sure to a degree. those are called book reports.. we have that already. but we certainly ought to have a common reading core.

re: Hobbies to learn in 2025 - Odysseas ( the suggested video to watch ) um.. nah... it opens with "hobbies fill your life with meaning" ... um... what... this is some moral high ground nonsense. Intellectual - Physical - Social - Creative = "Fulfilled and balanced" ... "in a spiritual way" i don't agree that these things are good... but they are not "hobbies" in the way described here.
