oh yeah.. i have tried to explain % vs raw # to people... and again, right over their heads.
they do not undersatnd how the uber wealthy do not pay their fair share.
they scream "but the rich pay so much in taxes" but they mean in Raw $$ not in %.
so i try to explain. 20% of MY years wage( say 40,000) is $8000 leaving me $32,000($2,666/m) do what i need
these people are OK with the uber wealthy to pay a flat rate... so lets go with that...
yes a millionaire at 20% $200,000 in taxes.. that a big Raw $$ ... but it leaves the, $800,000($16,666/m) they essentially value a millionaire 6x other people...
..... that is INSANITY to me...
i think it is more than fair to tax the wealthy to a point that they take home comparable money as anyone else. ( give or take )
someone making 40k and someone making 1M
lets say we want them to be able to take home 3500 a month.
this means we would not tac the 40k person, and in fact provide them a small subsidy every month
the 1M person would be taxed 95.8%
of Couse this is napkin math. but it is to illustrate that % demonstrates that a millionaire can still live, like any other person , at 95% taxation.
laypeople do not seem to understand this.
