Not to offend you, but the USA may have been a good country for the average American, for millions of people around the world it's been a source of injustice, misery, and tragedy for decades.

@JohnMoore-xf5wy You sound like one of those people who believe that the Eiffel Tower in Paris is a replica of the Las Vegas one, that Europe didn't have electricity before the Marshall Plan, and that the Bible was "written entirely by the greatest American who ever lived, Jesus" 🤣

@JohnMoore-xf5wy The first adult book I read was "Beware of Pity" by the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig (1881-1942). I started it at 12 and finished a few weeks later when I was already 13. It was 2002.

@JohnMoore-xf5wy That's great, reading is a wonderful hobby. Not only does it inform you, it also improves memory, focus and self-control. It's a shame that the ability to read has been mostly lost in the youngest generations.

@JohnMoore-xf5wy Yes, being left to your own devices for entertainment as a child makes you creative and independent.

@JohnMoore-xf5wy You are right 🤗

@JohnMoore-xf5wy You're wrong, I'm an experienced reader. I read Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" at 16. In Russian. 😋

@JohnMoore-xf5wy Yes, I'm lucky that I spent the first 10 years of my life (1989-99) in small-town Russia. I had to entertain myself by reading, looking at the starry sky at night, going with my mother and grandmother when they went to visit someone, and playing with cats. One time I painted a black and white cat with henna and turned him into a calico cat for a few weeks. Being left to your own devices as a child makes you independent and creative. Today's children sadly don't get that.

@JohnMoore-xf5wy Very true. Being left to your own devices for entertainment as a child makes you creative and independent. Today's children unfortunately aren't capable of anything other than consuming commercial entertainment.
