Edible gold has been a thing since the ancient Egyptians. I don't think there was one "genius" who came up with it.

Using gold in electronics is just as selfish and primitive as eating it. True love and respect for something means not using it for anything and just having it to admire its beauty. In this case it'd be golden jewelry.

Edible gold has been a thing since the ancient Egyptians. It's not something modern.

Also, silver and copper are more conductive than gold, yet we don't love them as much as gold. Because they're not rare and beautiful like gold.
2
@remiicario Platinum isn't beautiful like gold.
2
@sten260 Mining anything is always expensive
2
We're all consumers who waste valuable resources. For example, fresh water is much more important to human life than gold, and we all waste it like crazy, including you. Get off your high horse.
2
@ghost_fueled_scarecrow We loved gold long before we knew it's useful. Even today, 80% of all gold is in jewelry. We love it because it's rare and beautiful.
2
@goreandhoodies3626 Rust is decayed metal. Rusty machine parts don't work as they're supposed to, and touching rust can give you splinters. Rust is to metal what ashes are to wood and paper. So yes, rust is bad.
2
vawies We loved gold long before we used it in smartphones. Because it's rare and beautiful. Just like Da Vinci's paintings, old family photographs, and our moms. Not because they're useful but because they're rare and beautiful.
2
@ejohnson3131 When there's no water or food, just eat your precious mother, family photographs, and Mona Lisa!
2
@Steveman27 It's a joke dude.

@finklernattawat2332 "But tell me: how did gold get to be the highest value? Because it is uncommon and useless and gleaming and gentle in its brilliance; it always gives itself." - Friedrich Nietzsche
2
@Che_estici Natural gold will always be more special than grown gold.
2
@wiggy8912 Gold was considered valuable long before we knew it's useful. Because it's rare and beautiful.

Wow, and I thought gold was infinite! Silly me!
1
Well duh! Did you expect the tires, seats, seatbelts, windshields and engine to be made of gold? Gold is special because it's beautiful, so it's only used in the parts that are visible. That's what a gold car is.

Said the kid who lives with his mom.
1
@holysong2099 Only a kid who lives with his mom would think that.
1
@holysong2099 Okay 👊

We're all consumers who waste resources just for the lols. Get off your high horse.
1
@dapurmamagangpanda6235 People have been eating gold since the ancient Egyptians. It's not new. Also, isn't gold just pooped out after you eat it? So it doesn't disappear?
1
Isn't everything perception?
1
Okay kiddo.
1
Because it's beautiful and comes from space 😍
1
Gold is beautiful and rare, and we now know it comes from space. That's amazing. I love gold.
1
@damselinthedress We don't use gold only for decoration purposes, and what's wrong with decoration? Gold is beautiful and we want to admire it rather than hide it deep in some machine or in our teeth and put it to work like a slave.
1
Emotion is what makes us human kid. One day you'll grow up and no longer be scared of feelings.
1
@davidnguyen9065 Do you have a source for your claim? That gold isn't very rare compared to other metals?
1
@wandowander9360 What's wrong with having a piece of metal in your teeth? If it stops your toothache and stops your tooth from breaking off further, isn't that a good thing?
1
@maythesciencebewithyou You say "useless" like it's a bad thing. The most valuable things are the most useless. Da Vinci's paintings are useless, the Notre Dame is useless, family pictures are useless, babies are useless, and your mom will be useless when she's too old and weak to do anything useful for anyone. It doesn't mean all these things have no value, does it?
1
@maythesciencebewithyou Platinum isn't as expensive as gold because it's not as beautiful. It looks cold and depressing asf. I wouldn't wear platinum around my neck if I was paid for it.
1
@leopoldo3884 There's LOTS of demand for plastic. So why is "plastic" a synonym for "cheap"?
1
The Yo You sound young.
1
@shannyjackson9206 The reason why we value gold is because it's very rare and beautiful. Brass is a manmade mix of copper and zinc, so of course we don't value it like gold.
1
@TheArabsolga Wtf do "galactic forces" have to do with anything? Were humans living on earth and base our laws on what's right and wrong. No galactic force stops you from taking an old lady's wallet, r-ping somebody, or using somebody as a slave. It doesn't mean it's okay.
1
Maybe it'd be even more expensive because it's from space.
1
"Humans"

Okay kiddo.

Okay kiddo

That's what I thought too when I was an edgy youngster.
1
@EslamAbdo1919 Silver isn't as rare and beautiful as gold.
1
@Jackaroo. We love gold because it's rare and beautiful. That's the only real reason.
1
@Jackaroo. Many materials are much more useful than gold, like wood and plastic, yet nowhere near as expensive. Gold's value isn't in its (very limited) usefulness.
1
@EslamAbdo1919 Finding something beautiful has nothing to do with greedy capitalism.
1
Okay kiddo.
1
@KGDHMF Diamonds are rare because they were formed billions of years ago, and beautiful. Sounds valuable to me.
1
@Loading-lg6hs I don't think most people in trouble with debt are there because they abused it. Taking huge loans to go to college and paying groceries and hospital bills with your credit card isn't really a choice. It's just how it works in America. In other countries people study, go to the hospital and do groceries without getting into debt, not because they're smarter but because their country works different.
1
@infidel1993 Or it's a sign that you're an American.
