  25. Finally someone who thinks the same as I. I don't like how sleek, soulless and commercialized Russia is becoming. I think people (in general, not just Russians) are better off with a simple, modest and cosy material life. It's good that Russians finally have the material things they needed but didn't have under communism and in the '90s, but I'm afraid they're going to lose something equally if not more important in the long run.

  30. Actually, what you see here is very new for Russia. I spent the first 10 years of my life (1989-99) in small town Russia and I remember Russians as serious, introverted, and oriented at private life. Here I see a Russia that's completely new and alien to me.

  34. When I was almost 10 years old, my mother developed servere mental issues. Schizophrenia that was never treated. By the time I was 13, I was missing around 1 school day out of 2, partly because I was so broken and exhausted, and partly because it felt inappropriate, selfish and heartless to carry on with my normal life while my mother was in such distress. So yes, I know what you mean by being too nice and going the extra mile without being asked.

  47. I wouldn't live in that house in the thumbnail if I was paid for it! It's so ugly, I don't understand why Russian can't stick to their familiar traditional Russian and Soviet building style. I find it so much more beautiful.
