  1. When I was almost 10 years old, my mother developed servere mental issues. Schizophrenia that was never treated. By the time I was 13, I was missing around 1 school day out of 2, partly because I was so broken and exhausted, and partly because it felt inappropriate, selfish and heartless to carry on with my normal life while my mother was in such distress. So yes, I know what you mean by being too nice and going the extra mile without being asked.
