  7. Does it really matter? Gold is unlike anything on earth and people have always known that. What you're saying is just another theory about gold's origins. There've been many others. The Incas called gold "the sweat of the sun" for example. What's always been clear is that gold is from another world, isn't that enough?

  20.  @DarkEnchanter13  I think you're confusing usefulness with value. When you're stranded on an island, a flint is more useful than the Mona Lisa, old family photographs, or a small child. Does it mean that the flint is more valuable than these things?

  21.  @maxb3248  Gold was considered valuable long before we used electricity. Conductivity is not the only property that makes a material useful, nor a particularly important one. It's not the reason why we love gold.

  22.  @nguyenduyphuc3924  Your comparison is wrong. We're not creating aluminum, we've just gotten good at extracting it. Artificial gold would be completely different from the gold that got into the earth billions of years ago from exploding stars, and therefore not as valuable as the original. Just like copies of the Mona Lisa will never be as valuable as the real thing, no matter how much they resemble the original.

  23.  @ej6921  Many materials are much more useful than gold, yet nowhere near as valuable. For example, people with poor oral hygiene are more likely to have bad breath, toothache, diabetes, heart disease, dementia, and have a lower life expectancy. So, plastic turned into toothbrushes saves us from discomfort, pain, disability, and even death. All things that are much more important than what electronics do for us. So why is plastic still a synonym for cheapness?
